How to Clean a Franke Coffee Machine
If your Franke coffee machine isn’t producing the same quality of espresso it once did, then it may be overdue for a good cleaning. Luckily, Franke machines are well-designed and straightforward to maintain, meaning it should take less than 10 minutes to give your unit a thorough spray and wipe down.
Things You’ll Need
- White vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Clean kitchen cloths
- Soft-bristled brush
Step 1: Unplug It and Let It Cool
Unplug your Franke coffee machine from the wall, and let it sit for about 30 minutes to cool down. If your machine has a warmup feature, let it start and then begin the cleaning process.
Step 2: Clean Exterior Surfaces
Spray the exterior of the machine with white vinegar. Wipe down the surfaces with a clean kitchen cloth, taking extra care along control buttons and LED screens. Pay special attention to any plastic or rubber parts, as these can wear down and become brittle if not properly cared for.
Step 3: Clean Internal Parts
Take a clean kitchen cloth and gently wipe the coffee grinder and its compartment. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any residue that may be clinging to the interior surfaces.
Step 4: Rinse and Reassemble
Once all internal and external surfaces have been thoroughly scrubbed, use a damp kitchen cloth to rinse away any excess vinegar. Use a dry kitchen cloth to wipe surfaces down one last time. Reassemble the machine as instructed in the Franke user manual.
Step 5: Clean the Coffee Network
Finally, empty and clean the coffee network by running a rinse cycle. Fill the tank with cold, filtered water, then switch the machine on. Let it run for a few seconds, then switch it off. Unplug the machine and discard the water, then fill the tank with new cold, filtered water. Run the rinse cycle one last time as if you were making espresso.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Congratulations – you’ve now cleaned your Franke coffee machine! Enjoy your freshly brewed espresso, knowing that you’ve taken the extra steps necessary to ensure great-tasting coffee every time.
